WE ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOKOUT FOR PEOPLE TO SEND IN ARTICLES
I am inviting all you dubsteppas to submit articles to this blog. If you think you have something to say about our scene then get it off your chest. Darkside Sophistication is hosted by me, Owen Griffiths, but the point of it is to create a blog where it isn't the work of a sole person. Whereas on some blogs the writers struggle to come up with something interesting week in week out, we'll be able to avoid those problems because our project is the work of a group of individuals which will lighten the workload and ensure a broader range of viewpoints are aired.
The Guidelines/ Rules: Chin up people, they’re here to guide you, not punish you.
- This is a blog site; it’s not a forum. You are going to have to be a bit more intelligent about your articles than you would in a forum thread or in an email.
- There is a minimum 350-word limit on the articles; there is no upper limit, but try not to make a Lord of the Rings style epic because it limits the amount of people who will read it. If you want to see an example of good blogging, check out www.drumzofthesouth.blogspot.com or www.blackdownsoundboy.blogspot.com. Do not be intimidated if you feel that their style of writing is much better than your own. I’m not trained in journalism, and neither will the vast majority of the other contributors. And when it comes to writing style, it can be first person, third person, whatever… It can be about a certain theme, it can be a review of a club (although we’re not looking for too many of these), it can even be about a certain DJ/ Producer, but highly critical stuff will be dismissed because the site is about positivity.
- This is primarily a Dubstep site. You can send us articles on Grime, Old Skool UK Garage, Electronica, Broken Beat etc, but bear in mind that if we are inundated with non-Dubstep articles on a certain week then we will have to hold some of the (non-Dubstep ones) back for future weeks. This doesn’t reflect on the quality of your writing, and we will update you on how the situation stands with your article by email.
- Humour will be much appreciated, but negative comments, ie. slagging people off will be unsuitable for the site. Darkside Sophistication is all about constructive criticism.
- Editing of your articles by the administrators will be virtually non-existent; it’ll just be a case of correcting spelling mistakes and things like that.
- If you see any mistakes/untruths in some of the articles that are posted on the site then could you please contact us and we will correct them as quickly as we can.
- Darkside Sophistication will tell you by email whether your article is going to be posted or not (or posted at a later date). We will read every article we receive, and will try to contact you as quickly as possible.
If you’re interested, submit your articles to: owen.griffiths@btinternet.com.
To avoid emails ending up in my spam folder, could you place in the subject field the words “Dubstep Roughdown”, as the last thing I want is stuff mistakenly getting deleted as trash.
